The Last Unknowns is a book made up almost entirely of questions. Personally, I hope that most of these get answered sooner rather than later, but for right now, you can keep yourself up at night with questions like, “What is the hard limit on human longevity?” and “What future progressive norms would most forward-thinking people today dismiss as too transgressive?” along with plenty of others. More than 250 others, actually.

Here’s a partial list of “question-askers,” from Amazon:

*The Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Guns, Germs, and Steel JARED DIAMOND

*Nobel Prize-winning University of Chicago economist RICHARD THALER

*Harvard psychologist STEVEN PINKER

*Author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics CARLO ROVELLI

*Neuroscientist SAM HARRIS

*MIT theorist SHERRY TURKLE

*UC Berkeley psychologist ALISON GOPNICK

*Philosopher REBECCA NEWBERGER GOLDSTEIN

*MIT cosmologist MAX TEGMARK

*“Marginal Revolution” economist TYLER COWEN •

*Anatomy of Love author HELEN FISHER
