At only 24 years old in 1956, British philosopher Colin Wilson shocked the world with the publication of his book, The Outsider, which has gone on to be translated into more than thirty different languages and has never been out of print since. And yet…

I’ve found that even many highly intelligent, insightful individuals have never even heard of it! Well that stops today, because the power of this book to transform consciousness is nothing less than astonishing.

If ordinary life usually seems a bit…well, ordinary…it may be because the way most human beings live their lives can be compared to an extraordinarily powerful jet airplane flying on only one engine. That’s Colin Wilson’s basic contention in The Outsider, where he outlines his fundamentally optimistic philosophy of New Existentialism.

It’s a philosophy that demands quite a bit from every thinking person who encounters it, but it gives so much more. It’s all about saying “Yes” to life, in spite of everything, and Wilson proved that this is a power we all posses:
