Breaking the Chains Keeping Me Trapped Inside My Old Life

My EXTREME accountability project and how it’s transforming me in front of my very eyes

The Competitive Advantage

My life’s not THAT BAD…and that’s the problem.

I know that sounds weird, but let me explain using the story of dog sitting on a nail, despite the obvious discomfort it’s in.

The story goes that the dog and its owner are just sitting there while the dog is laying on this nail, when this other guy strolls up and wonders (reasonably) why the dog isn’t doing anything to change its situation.

The owner just shrugs his shoulders and replies:

“I guess it just doesn’t hurt enough to move.”

I’ve been sitting on a nail these last few years, and honestly, it didn’t really hurt that bad.

I didn’t have much motivation to take drastic action to change and improve my circumstances, because…and I hate to admit this…I got too comfortable with how ordinary and non-impressive my life was.

And I don’t even mean impressive to other people, necessarily, although that’s certainly part of it.

I’m achievement-driven and make no apologies for that, so when I don’t live up to my own expectations I always find it hard to accept.
