How Many People Can You Tell to Go F&ck Themselves Today?

It’s interesting when your freedom and your honor require you to behave in two completely different ways.

If you’re really free — and this is the “freedom test” by the way — you could go through your entire day dishing out anatomically-problematic commands such as this, with relatively few consequences.

You could pretty much get away with telling people exactly what you thought of them, exactly where they should go, and exactly what they should do to themselves once they got there.

But, if you’re honorable, you won’t.

You’ll stop yourself, even when the person in front of you probably deserves it, and that’s how you can tell how honorable you are.

Here’s the way legendary investor and bestselling author Nassim Taleb puts it:

“You are free in inverse proportion to the number of people to whom you can’t say ‘fuck you.’ But you are honorable in proportion to the number of people to whom you can say ‘fuck you’ with impunity but don’t.”
