The Pursuit of Perfection is Poisoning Your Mind
Like millions of other people, I enjoy watching the finance YouTuber Graham Stephan, especially his vastly underrated podcast, The Iced Coffee Hour. Recently, he had a guest on that I had never heard of before, even though his guest has millions and millions of followers.
Nuseir Yassin once spent 1,000 days creating 1-minute long videos under the name Nas Daily — meaning, he put in thousands of hours of work way before I ever heard his name on Graham’s podcast. But what’s most interesting about him is why he decided to make 1,000 videos in the first place.
Today, Nas has 43,000,000 followers across various social media channels, but on Day #230 he almost quit. On Day #400, more than 1,000,000 people discovered Nas Daily. And on Day #1,000?
11,800,000 followers.
Alright, so why the 1,000 videos? As Nas says, it’s because the smartest people in the world — the best filmmakers, producers, creatives — need just one shot. They can create something, some masterwork, something astonishing that lands them a release on Netflix or some big studio contract, and then they’re set. They’re already fantastic at what they do.
